Buy of photos, conditions, formats etc.
Buying photos
Simply follow these steps:
- Select the photo/photos for a Lightbox. It is done by marking the box 'Select for Lightbox' in the left column on the page displaying a single photo.
- If you are not logged in, please give your email and choose a password when prompted.
- Go to the Lightbox (via top-menu), click the order-button and follow the instructions.
- You get the photos by email normally on the same day.
- After evaluation of the photos, you shall receive an invoice, and can publish the photos.
Prices
The price is 30 EUR/40 USD, for use in one specific publication. If you wish more than one publication, multiple media, translations, reprints etc. they are paid separately. If you wish to use more than 20 photos we give a discount. More information here.
Formats, printing size etc.
All photos are digital, primarily 5-8 MP. If you print in 300 DPI, 8 MP will give you 20*30 cm, but to our experience you can print larger formats with no quality problems. We have had 2 MP photos that have been printed in 2*6 m banners on busses.
Free use
The photos may normally be used in single copies for non-commercial purposes after a permit has been given; if there is a budget with room for it, we would however like to cover our expences. Free use normally only covers photos that can be taken directly from the Biopix web site. In some cases we have given full resolution photos to e.g. nature information projects that we have wished to support.
The photos may be used for free with no permission in the following cases. By teachers, pupils and students at schools, universities and other educational facilities, for purposes related directly to the education. Typically reports, teaching material for single classes, talks, posters, Masters-, PhD-reports etc. The source should always be given and if the product is published on the Internet, a link to Biopix should be given.
